Our Parliament was relaunched in September 2024 and is formed of a 10-person Cabinet of Ministers in the following areas:
The cabinet ministers are responsible for effecting change across our school community. They write action plans, form committees and lead projects based on their areas of responsibility. This could involve organising fundraising events, making improvements to our curriculum or premises, or taking on a wider role in our local community.
In addition, each class from Years 2 to 6 has elected their own MP who is responsible for listening to the opinions and concerns of their peers through timetabled 'surgeries', and bringing those viewpoints to termly parliament meetings. From there, MPs and Ministers will work together to turn these ideas into a workable plan of action.

Yesterday, the Burleigh Parliament visited the Houses of Parliament in Westminster. The children were given a tour through the palace, walked the corridor where Guy Fawkes was tried and stood in the House of Commons where our country's leaders debate, make decisions and propose laws on our behalf. The children represented Burleigh School proudly and were shining examples of what democracy should look like.
