In September 2024, we relaunched our Burleigh Parliament! Our new parliament is formed of a 10-person Cabinet of Ministers in the following areas:
The cabinet ministers are responsible for effecting change across our school community. They will write action plans, form commitees and lead projects based on their areas of responsibility. This could involve organising fundraising events, making improvements to our curriculum or premises, or taking on a wider role in our local community.
In addition, each class from Years 2-6 have elected their own MPs who are responsible for listening to the opinions and concerns of their peers through timetabled 'surgeries', and bringing those viewpoints to termly parliament meetings. From there, MPs and Ministers will work together to turn these ideas into a workable plan of action.
MP Visit Friday 18th October 2024
Just before half term, our Local MP Lewis Cocking came to meet the Burleigh Parliament. He began by telling us a little about himself, his role and his inspirations before moving on to a lengthy Q&A session with our Cabinet Ministers and Class MPs.
We look forward to meeting Mr Cocking again when the Burleigh Parliament travels to Westminster in January!
