  • Vehicles - Wheels and Axels

What do you think would be the perfect vehicle for an explorer?

The children in Year 2 had to think about the different terrains an explorer might visit. Places included deserts, the Arctic and a tropical rainforest.

The children then had to choose their own materials for their vehicle design. In the making process, the children had to consider:

    • Wheels and axis (using different materials, shapes and sizes for wheels)
    • Joining (using glue, sellotape, staples)
    • Materials (is their vehicle made out of paper, cardboard or plastic?)
    • Shape (Is their vehicle big, small, long, square, or cylindrical? Why have they chosen that shape?)
    • Finishing (painting, felt-tips, paper to colour and finish their design)
