On Monday 16th June, the children in the Growth Group worked with some residents from a local retirement centre, Emmanuel Lodge B3 Living. The impact was incredibly powerful, with both generations connecting through conversation, games, shared gardening, and creative activities.
The children were a real credit to the school and working with CHEXS gave them a valuable opportunity to build empathy, confidence and a sense of community.
The feedback has been heart-warming:
“Today was the best day ever – we helped clean their garden, they were so proud of us.”
“I liked hearing about their lives and making them feel less lonely.”
And from the residents:
“They brought such energy and kindness – it was lovely to feel listened to and valued.”
