    • Teddy Bear Marathon

      On Wednesday 20th May, children can bring their favourite teddy bear to school and take part in our exciting Teddy Bear Mini Marathon during the school day!

      FABS will be cheering everyone on around the course and there may even be a medal waiting at the finish line 🏅

      We are suggesting a £3.50 donation per child to help raise funds for FABS and the school. Payments can be made via School Gateway.

    • Year 4 Maths Challenge

      Well done to our Year 4 Team who have taken part in the first heat of the Maths Challenge.

      This friendly, online, inter-school competition gave the team the opportunity to apply their mathematics knowledge and teamwork skills to solve problems and answer challenging questions, whilst putting their reasoning skills to the test.     

      Each round relies on much more than mere mathematical calculation. The team was challenged with problem-solving, reasoning, estimation, visualisation and arithmetic from across the mathematics curriculum.

    • Wellbeing Award for Schools - Survey

      Our school is just starting the process of working towards obtaining the 'Wellbeing Award for Schools'.  This process will take the school between one year and eighteen months to complete. 

      As a starting point, we need to evaluate our current provision and would appreciate the views of our parents. Your views are important in helping us understand what we are doing well and how we can do better.

    • The Mayor Visits Burleigh

      On Wednesday 4th February, the Mayor for Broxbourne, Councillor Patsy Spears visited Burleigh school and met with the Burleigh Parliament. The children were able to ask Madam Mayor all about her life prior to becoming mayor and her current role and responsibilities. Everyone was surprised by how open and warm-hearted Cllr Spears was and we greatly appreciated her visit.

    • Young Voices at the O2

      Yesterday, our Young Voices choir sang their hearts out at the O2 with 8,000 children from across the country. The whole day was great fun as the children practised their songs, warmed up with the amazing dance group Urban Strides and sang along with guest performers Ruti and Aneesa Folds. The performance itself was magical and made memories that the children will treasure for years to come.

    • The School Parliament meet representatives from HCL

      On Wednesday 14th January 2026, the Burleigh Parliament did us proud when they met with representatives from Herts County Council and our catering company HCL, to share our children's views on school dinners. The ministers and class MPs put forward the results of our recent food survey respectfully and the chef was very receptive to some of the suggestions they made. Watch this space for future changes!

    • A Special Christmas Visitor!

      This morning began with an unexpected and magical surprise for the entire school. As pupils assembled on the playground, the gentle sound of sleigh bells echoed through the air, growing louder by the moment. Anticipation built as Father Christmas appeared, arriving in his sleigh to delighted cheers. Joined by one of his cheerful elves, he danced along to the festive music while greeting everyone on the playground. After spreading plenty of Christmas spirit, they waved goodbye and set off once more for Lapland, where preparations for the big day continue.
