During Black History Week, the children at Burleigh Primary School enjoyed a range of exciting and enriching experiences that celebrated Black culture, history and heritage. We were honoured to welcome the Mayor of Broxbourne, who joined us for our celebrations.
The children enthusiastically took part in a singing and drumming workshop led by Mrs Lamy-Westcarr , a children’s play director from the West End. Mrs Lamy-Westcarr performs in The Lion King show and she explored rhythm, music and performance with the children.
Some classes also enjoyed a Roman chickpea stew cook-along, learning about historical foods while developing their cooking skills.
A special visit from Ros gave children the opportunity to learn about the beautiful Caribbean island of Grenada, its culture, traditions and history. It was a memorable week filled with learning, creativity and community spirit.
