Thank you to everyone who supported the Year Six 'Bring and Buy' sale. They raised just over £500. This sum is going towards the purchasing of their Leavers' Books, which they will receive in July.
Year Six have arrived at Caythorpe!
Year 1 spent the day in Epping Forest learning all about the trees and plants that grow there. They had to use the natural objects that they found in the forest to make our own pictures. Year 1 had a great day out!
Year 5 were treated to an unforgettable experience with the Spirit of the Wild workshop, where they had the chance to get up close and personal with a variety of fascinating animals. Tying into their South American topic, the children interacted with creatures including an eagle, snakes and meerkats, each of which played an important role in the ecosystems within South America.
The workshop not only provided the children with a hands-on experience but also deepened their understanding of the natural world. They found out about the life cycles of these animals, the difference between poisonous and venomous species, and the crucial role each animal plays in their environment. The children were captivated as they held and observed the animals and discovered more about the animals’ diets, habits, and survival strategies.
From the majestic eagle to the curious meerkats, the workshop was an educational and exciting journey that left the children both enchanted and enlightened about the wonders of South American wildlife. A truly memorable morning, it brought their learning to life in the most hands-on way possible!
On Friday 9th May, we held a special assembly to commemorate VE Day – Victory in Europe Day – marking the end of World War II in Europe on May 8, 1945. The assembly was a time of reflection and learning, and we honoured the memory of those who served and those who gave their lives.
In Year 5, we spent some time learning about life in Ancient Greek times.
