On Monday 3rd February, 29 children went to the O2 to take part in the Young Voices concert. For many children, this was the first time that they had been to such a big performance – there were over 20,000 people at the venue watching us sing!
Our group were very lucky as we were able to sit in a suite and we had a lot of room to dance. During the afternoon, we had a very long rehearsal and we had to keep standing up and sitting down. After we had had our packed tea, the concert began. There were some special guests, including MC Grammar, Tommy Blaize (from Strictly Come Dancing) and Souparnika Nair (who had been on Britain’s Got Talent). Andy taught us the dances that we had to perform during the actual concert. Our favourite songs were Try Everything, Hair Spray and pop medley. We took the Burleigh flags with us to help our parents to find us in the huge arena.
During the actual concert, it was really dark but there were flashlights everywhere that made the O2 sparkle and shine. At one point, the lighting crew turned the O2 green, red and yellow as we sang a Bob Marley song. Our singing was really loud and sounded great.
We didn’t get back to school until 11pm but the tiredness was worth it for such a fantastic experience.
