The Burleigh School Parliament visits the Houses of Parliament!

On Friday 31st January, the Burleigh School Parliament went on a trip to visit the Houses of Parliament in London. During the trip, we learnt more about the history of the government and what the Members of Parliament (MPs) do for the country. The group saw Queen Victoria’s throne and Big Ben during the tour. In addition, we got to enter the House of Commons and the House of Lords. At the end of the visit, we met Lord Mott, and we asked him some fantastic questions which put him on the spot – did you know that he was a pastry chef earlier in his career?  We also got to play a game which was linked to the procedure of turning a Bill into a law. After a busy morning, we were able to have a late lunch before returning to school.
