The National Curriculum for history aims to provide students with a coherent understanding of Britain's past and the wider world, fostering critical thinking and historical enquiry skills. To facilitate this, in Key Stage One our units of work are focused on people, events and places, whilst in Key Stage Two the focus moves onto 'culture and invasion'. In both Key Stages, the children look at our local history.

Throughout the school, all lessons start by looking at the chronology for a specific period of time and then use a variety of historical skills throughout the unit (see below). We aim for children to develop an 'enquiry-based' approach to their learning and use a range of different sources of evidence to support their arguments.
