School Letters

Dear Parents,
To celebrate and encourage a lifelong love of reading at home and school, we are running a sponsored read between Friday 16th February and Sunday 3rd March 2024. Any pupils taking part will be asked to read/listen to books for as long as they can over the 2 weeks.
The project is being organised in conjunction with our local Independent Usborne Partner, Danielle Theodosiou from Mumma’s Book Haven. We are so excited as ALL the money raised will go towards brand new books for our school. In addition to the sponsorship money, Usborne will also donate up to 60% of the total raised in EXTRA FREE BOOKS to the school. So, for every £10 you raise, we could get an extra £6 in FREE Usborne books! If we manage to raise £1000 in total, we will get another £600 worth of books for FREE!
Please help us to increase our reading resources for pupils by encouraging your child to spend a small amount of time each day either reading to themselves, to others, or being read to. They can read books, comics, magazines, newspapers, menus, websites, recipes, poems, leaflets, instructions – anything with words!

There will also be incentives to win additional prizes within KS1 and KS2 as follows:

Most minutes read – Winner Most money raised – Winner
Most minutes read – Runner-up Most money raised – Runner-up

When the event has ended please collect the money raised and pay it into either the School Gateway account or bring in cash. The deadline to pay in all sponsorship money is 6th March 2024.
To celebrate the end of the sponsored read we will also be launching a Book Fair on World Book Day, where we will have another opportunity to gain free books for the school. More information will be sent out at that time, including a sponsorship form for the sponsored read.

Yours sincerely,
