  • Crucial Crew

    Wed 27 Nov 2019
Last Friday, pupils in Year 6 visited Hertford Regional College to take part in a number of activities designed to help them feel and act safely in a number of real-life situations.  Some of the important thing they learned were, how to stay safe when near train lines and overhead cables, what to do if they fell in icy water and fire/electrical safety around the home.  The children thoroughly enjoyed taking part in the activities and came away with knowledge to help keep them safe when they are out and about with friends and family.
  • Football Success!

We held an exciting home derby against Brooklands Primary School yesterday.  The weather was chilly and the ground muddy, but that didn't stop our boys!  With a quick goal in the first minute, we went in at half time 5-0 up.  Brooklands scored a goal in the second half but there was no stopping our team! The game finished with a fantastic 5-1 win to Burleigh! Well done to all who played, it was a thoroughly well deserved victory!
  • Inter Primary Cup

    Thu 07 Nov 2019

On Tuesday of this week Burleigh entered a netball team and a football team in the inaugural Inter Primary Cup competition.

Having achieved so greatly in our last football tournament, the team set off full of confidence, and they did not disappoint!  Winning a staggering 4 games out of 6 and drawing the remaining 2 games, Burleigh topped the group and qualified to play Sheredes A in the final.

The boys started very well, narrowly missing a tantalising shot from the edge of the area.  Fortunately, we took the lead from a fantastic shot.  This spurred Sheredes into life and with 25 seconds on the clock, they had scored 2 goals to emerge as 2-1 winners.

The netball team was playing their first tournament.  The girls, who had been working tirelessly every Tuesday after school, had received new bibs to wear (Thank you to Mrs Markham) for this momentous occasion, and they did not disappoint!

The determination, enthusiasm and enjoyment shown by all of the girls was fantastic, considering how nervous they were at the start.  The team went on to win 1 game, narrowly missing out on a draw in another and losing 3 other games.  Considering it was their first ever tournament, this was a huge achievement!

It was an outstanding performance by all, and we are immensely proud of how the children behaved, conducted themselves and showed true Burleigh MAGIC throughout every single moment of the competition!

    Well done to all!
