  • Science Week

    Wed 12 Feb 2020
It's Science week this week!  The infant hall has been set up with different work stations, where children have been carrying out a variety of experiments and investigations.  These include  raisins in carbonated water, removing paper clips from a glass of water with a magnet, how to make a paper clip float on water (water retention), Diennes grab (hand span) and the sweet challenge (tweezers/prediction). The children have really enjoyed doing the experiments and have relished the challenges! Look out for more photos in your child's class page.
  • Young Voices 2020

    Wed 05 Feb 2020
On Tuesday 4th February the school choir travelled to the O2 Arena in London to take part in the Young Voices 2020 concert.  It was a very long day for the children, but a very exciting one!  Over the past few months the children have been learning a set number of songs, and on Tuesday they spent the first few hours rehearsing them with the other twenty schools that were with them on that day.  In the evening they performed all the songs to all the parents who attended!  The children loved every minute of it!  Well done to everyone involved!
  • Sainsbury's Road Safety Visit

    Wed 05 Feb 2020
The Sainsbury's Road Safety team paid a visit to Burleigh last week.  The Road Safety Officers gave a talk to the pupils in Year 6 on the dangers of crossing roads and cycling near lorries and other large vehicles.  The children had the opportunity to sit in the lorry and see for themselves how the driver's vision is restricted by blind spots.  The children learned a great deal about road safety and the golden rule of 'If you can't see the driver, the driver can't see you.'
